July 20
Between naps and overnight, I slept 15 hours total but woke up tired. Halo and I did her usual morning routine. Then I had to start fixing the basement for my mom's arrival tomorrow afternoon. For the past two weeks, and for obvious reasons, it had become dumping ground. If I needed something out of the way, the basement bedroom where my mom stays when she visits was an impossible train wreck.
Yesterday afternoon and this morning, I noticed an issue in my hand, wrist, and forearm where the IV was last week. I called the cancer triage nurse number. I told them my hand, wrist, and forearm were a little red, tender, sore, and felt hot. I let them know the problem was spreading up my arm. They told me to go to urgent care. Great. Off I go. The doctor didn't think it was a clot or anything serious. She thought I may have a low grade infection and prescribed an antibiotic. Off I go back home to finish undestroying the basement. Of course, Halo got some walks in between. Gotta take care of my beautiful, gentle lamb.
The Rx was ready around 5 so I ran that errand. It's 5:50pm and I am home working on dinner.
Basically, I did zero cancer self-care today. Yes, I know that's not what you should be hearing from me but if I didn't fix the basement, mom would have nowhere to go when she arrives. I also didn't have much choice around the urgent care crap.
Tonight I need to sort all my medicines into my morning/noon/evening weekly pill lollapalooza.
Sorry for sounding frustrated (but I am...lol).
No need to apologize for sounding frustrated. You have every right to. I appreciate your willingness to be real while sharing your journey with you. And this is your blog, so you can say whatever tf you want XO
