With the day's radiation complete, there are only 9 more days of radiation to go!
Pain sucks. My throat hurts pretty much across the board. Eating food is nearly impossible. Even water is challenging because of the intense mucositis on my soft palate. Earlier this morning I had a consult with a pain/palliative care person to discuss how I will manage to limp through the next month to six weeks.
What's on the prescription menu next? Given that Oxy does nothing to me (at all, in any way), the doctor suggested Dilaudid (hydromorphone). It's supposed to have more kick. Right now I am eating scrambled eggs without tearing up so let's hope that is a sign the drugs are working.
Comfortable sleep is hard to come by, largely due to having to clear my throat a ton and cough up gunk so frequently. I might have mentioned that I am now having to sleep sitting up. It is tough but if that is all I have to do to survive this, I'm okay with it. This too shall pass.
