And so it began with a bang. It was a concurrent chemo and radiation day. Radiation was quick, possibly 12 or 13 minutes. Sadly, that ended at 11:40am and I did not have the chemo infusion until 1:30pm. My laptop was not with me. Major snore! But lesson learned. The infusion included fluids, anti-nausea meds, and then the chemo. Total chemo time was 2.5 hours. Total round trip time was 10:30am to 5:15pm. I know that I was emotionally okay because I spent most of my time making nurses laugh. We joked around. I wandered aimlessly with my IV tree just cuz. I asked if they had any paperwork I could do for them. I asked if any of the other patients needed counseling. I asked if I could crank my 80s rock and metal through a Bluetooth speaker. Oddly enough, all my questions received NO for an answer. For those who know me, I was like I am any other day…irreverent, sarcastic, playful to a fault, silly, and happy. I really don't feel any side effects and ate like a slob when I got home. Now that I'm heading to bed, my tummy feels a little gross. Gee, could it be chemo? Maybe. Could it be that I was a fat, indulgent bastard? If I was a betting man, I'd go with the latter. LOL. Maybe tomorrow I'll ask a nurse if she can do a side hustle liposuction for me sometime soon. |
