September 21

My mom arrived to help me through most of my treatment on August 4. The plan was that she would stay until mid or late October, given the doctor's bleak predictions about recovery from treatment. (It still amazes me that recovery from treatment is what is bad with my kind of cancer.)

Today, September 21, my mom drove back to her home in Thunder Bay. On one hand, this was a sad day in that my biggest champion left. On the other hand, it is a huge endorsement of my progress. She left a month earlier than expected.

I spent the day cleaning and doing chores around the house. This evening, I ate leftovers mom prepared and watched the Winnipeg Blue Bombers best the Edmonton Elks. Oh, and let's not forget the chocolate cookies mom made.

I've done no exercising of any worth in a couple of days. I'll need to get on it tomorrow. September 28 is fast approaching and I don't think I'm going to be able to meet my goal of running 5k. I'm not self-handicapping. I'm simply laying out the facts about my physical condition. But I'm still going to give it my all.

A friend here in the Twin Cities is struggling with some health challenges. A friend in Chicago recently had open heart surgery (but is recovering well). Everyone has something going on. Another friend posted her recent follow up for breast cancer is all clear. There's so much happening for everyone. I'm incredibly grateful that you still take time to check up on me.
